Well, here's the story. Several weeks ago my band director announced that the band would have to play for the grand opening of the new city hall. Since we had stuff going on that day anyway he said it shouldn't be a problem for us to make it there but he asked who wouldn't be able to go. So I said I couldn't go because I had plans to go to the Santa Cruz band review. He said 'fine.' Yesterday at band he was teaching us the drill for what we were going to do at the city hall and he told the people who he had talked to about not going to it to step off the field while the others learned what to do. So as I'm walking off the field:

"Joel, where are you going!?"
"I already told you, I won't be here because I told Smith I'd help him in Santa Cruz."
"No, you tell George you can't make it. I need you to go to this."
"Umm... You already said I could. Why would you need me? There are sixteen other trumpets."
"Get back on the field."

There were five people who walked off and four of them were saxophones but I was the only one he "needed." I'm fourteenth chair!! I think he could make it without me. So, I'm sorry to say, I can't go to Santa Cruz with you this time. I'm seriously upset with everything and the way this turned out. I miss you guys more than I can say and I was really looking forward to hanging out with you guys this weekend. I tried to convince him. I'm really sorry. We'll see what happens with everything in the next couple of weeks. Maybe we can all get together for Matt's birthday. I don't know.

Sorry I haven't kept in constant contact like I wish I could. Things have gotten frustrating out here. I hope you're all having fun. Stay golden.
